We are delighted to announce that Tatevik Gasparyan's latest ceramic installation, Waves of Confluence, opened yesterday at the Atticus Arts Gallery in Bath (11a Queen Street). This thought-provoking exhibition, running from 18th August to 23rd September 2023, invites viewers to explore a unique ceramic narrative that weaves together historical dialogues and contemporary themes.

Masterfully crafted, each piece in the exhibition showcases Gasparyan's expertise, honed over six years at St. Petersburg's Stieglitz Academy. The installation features a striking array of ceramic vessels in black and white, arranged in two parallel rows to reflect on Western society's achievements and ongoing challenges in equality and decolonisation.

Visitors will find the vessels arranged to mimic the form of a wave at the front of the installation, echoing the island’s surrounding waters and invoking textures found in the underwater world, such as shells and seaweed. This site-specific design not only ties the work to its geographical context but also enhances the thematic exploration of nature and culture's fluid boundaries.

The exhibition is set in one of the gallery’s larger halls, chosen by Gasparyan for its cracked concrete floor that accentuates the raw, insular nature of the installation. A distinctive white ceramic panel, reminiscent of historical bas-reliefs and shaped akin to a painting, complements the installation, symbolising the evolution of artistic expression from classical to contemporary narratives.

Waves of Confluence is more than just an exhibition; it is an invitation to dialogue and discovery. We encourage all art lovers and cultural explorers to visit this remarkable installation before it concludes on the 23rd of September.
